We would like to thank the volunteers who came along on Friday morning to help work in the Secret Garden to 'tidy it up'! We had a very productive morning and over 2-3 hours we created a LARGE pile of branches, cuttings and items that were taking over some of the garden. We are waiting for this to be taken away by staff from the grounds department!
The volunteers, Mrs Laird, Mrs Morgan and Mr & Mrs McAdam worked very hard to help clear the beds round the outer part of the garden. We still have more to do and they have kindly said they would come back this week to help once more.
Our plan is to try and get the garden back into a 'tidy state' and after the holidays we would like to set up a Garden Club where we have a group of volunteers, who are keen gardeners, who would come in every couple of weeks and work with some of the pupils to keep the garden neat and tidy.
The nursery pupils came along to thank the volunteers for their hard work - as one of the problems we had was the amount of nettles and wild roses growing in the garden.
While working in one area Mrs Morgan found a very young Wren chick in a hole in the wall. The nursery pupils were very interested to see this and it was safely put back afterwards and will hopefully continue to grow and thrive.
Mr & Mrs McAdam, Mrs Morgan and Mrs laird.
