The annual 'Touch Rugby Festival' for the Mintlaw Schools CLuster took place on Thursday 18th April at The Ritchie hall playing fields in Strichen. This event took place after a 6 week block of rugby training for P5, P6 or P7 pupils across the network. The festival is a celebratin of the work done and allows the children the opportuntiy to take part in a fun competition against children from all over the network.
We had 2 teams entered and both did very well. There were three leagues of 7 teams and the winners of each league and the best runners up took part in the semi finals. Strichen 2 managed to qualify as league winners of league 3 while Strichen 1 were runners up in league 2. Strichen 2 made it to the semi finals.
In a tense match they won 2-1 after extra time against a team from Mintlaw Primary. They played well in a tough match and managed to get the late victory.
That set them up for the final against Kininmonth. Again in a close match they ended up winnig 4-2 to clinch the trophy. That means a team from Strichen has won the lasdt three competitions whcih we are delighted about.
We would like to congratulate the children for taking part so well and for Strichen 2 for winning the event! I wonder if we can make it 4 in a row?
