Last week we held our annual Book Fair in school. Pupils got the opportunity to view the books on Wednesday and then the fair was open for pupils and parents to buy books on the Thursday.
Not only did we have the book fair...we had the launch of Strichen School's 'We are writers' book that was produced last term. Every pupil in the school wrote a piece to be included in the book and a sample copy of the book was on display at the book fair for everyone to look at. We have had a number of orders so far and you canorder your copy on the special order form on Monday and Tuesday of this week.
The sales of this book, along with the sales at the book fair will determine how much commission we will make for purchasing books for the school. By Friday afternoon we had taken in sales of around £1200 from the sales of the book and other books in the fair. With this amount we should be eligible for around £700 worth of commission to spend on books for the school. We will take books from the book fair boxes and also from the catalogue of available resources that will help us refresh books in the library and also order some new reading materials for classes to use with reading groups.
We would like to thank everyone for their great suport of the book fair. We hope that they wil enjoy receiving copies of the 'We are Writers' book and that it will be a keep sake tolookback on in the years to come.
If you would like to order a 'We are Writers' book please contact the school as soon as possible.
