We were all very disappointed to discover that the strong winds have uprooted one of the large trees that stand along the front of the school grounds on North Street. The tree fell over between 4.10pm and 4.45pm on Monday 23rd May. The tree has been well and truly uprooted and another tree came down in one of the gardens in a house next to the school.
We are just relieved that the tree fell down once all the pupils had gone home and that it fell towards the school on the grass and did not crash through the railings and on to the road.
However, the tree next to it also seems to show signs of movement and you can see some of the cracks running along the roots. It will need to be checked by Landscape Services but we hope that it will be safe.
However, the fallen tree will leave a terrible gap in the line of trees that help enhance the school grounds. This is a sad day for the school.
