Happy New year to everyone at Strichen School.
This has been a frustrating start to the term with four days of snow closures. Closing the school is never an easy decision but the weather this week has really meant thatit would have been very dangerous for staff to travel to the school and for pupils and parents even to walk to the school and access it. Even now I am told that the area round the school is very tricky and there is snow piled everywhere.
At present we hope to be open on Monday but we will have to wait and see what the weekend brings as far as the weather is concerned. I am told it is snowing now in Strichen as I write this.
If pupils are looking for ideas of things to do then you could try some of the following:
1.P7 pupils could log into GLOW and follow the links to the 'M2C Snow SPecial' GLOW Group. A range of activities are posted there for yu to look at and try. You could even try and upload some photos of your snowmen or pictures of Strichen in the snow.
2. Make sure you have looked at your reading book and have gone over the work you have done and perhaps the next story you are due to look at when we start back. However, any reading material would be suitable as long as you are reading regularly. try some comics, a good book or the newspapers.
3. P4 - 7: Keep going over your tables and practice them to build up your speed at answering questions.

4. Try drawing a picture of something you did in the snow and write a short story to go with it. Or it could be a photo with a story to go with it.
5. Do some snow maths! Measure the depth of the snow in your garden! Measure the length of the longest icicle that is hanging in your grden.
6. Remember to feed the brds! Put some old bread out for them and watch the out the window as they feed!
Anyway, we hope to see you back at school soon so that we can get going with our work again!
