We enjoyed going on our class trip, on Monday 15th June, to the Buchan Heritage Centre. There was another class there so we got split into groups. Boddam School was in one group and our class got split into two groups. The activities we did included Story Telling and Singing, the Heritage Trail and Dancing.
The story telling was about a Magic Tree, Jamie’s Lost Trainer and Jam Tarts and all the stories, songs and poems were written in Doric.
In our groups we did some Scottish dancing and at the end we had a Ceilidh and there was some singing. Henry sang a song from Abba called Dancing Queen and Joanne danced the Highland fling with a girl from Boddam.
A lady called Mable gave us a tour around the museum and another lady called Jenny showed us the Horse Mans Hoose.
At break we got to go to an old castle near the museum.
We learned a lot about how the men would have made and sang Bothy Ballads and what life was like for them. We also learned that everyone used to speak in Doric.
It was a great day. We all had fun and learned a lot.
