Class 6 helped to organise and run a very successful Mini Olympics very recently. The pupils, along with help from Mrs Mitchell, class teacher, and Miss Brown, Active Sports Co-ordinator, organised a whole day of sporting fun for the pupils at school. The whole event was a great success and we must thank them for all their hard work. This repoort was written by pupils in the class.
The Strichen Squeak
On Friday the 19th of September Strichen Primary School held a Mini Olympics. It started at 9:30am and ended at 3:15 pm and about 150 people took part. They thought of this because the P.7s have been doing a project on the Olympics and they had made their own torches. The school was split into six teams which were Jamaica, Spain, Australia, USA, Chinaand Greece which are countries who all take part in the Olympics. Each team had to do an event at a time then move round. The events were Javelin, Foot ball Shootout, Netball, Speed Bounce, Standing Long Jump, Bean Bag Throw Relay Races and for fun and Obstacle Course. The day was split into three parts morning to playtime for Nursery and Class 1; playtime to lunchtime for Classes 2 and 3 and lunchtime to home time for Classes 4, 5 and 6.
The day was a huge success. Everyone really enjoyed their day and was very tired after their hard work.
On Wednesday the 24th of September was the Medal and Certificate Presentation Ceremony. All the pupils were excited because they were going to find out the outcome of the Mini Olympics.
The winners were Greece, 2nd came Australia, 3rd was China Spain came in 4th and USA and Jamaica came in 5th and 6th but everyone worked really well together.
