Pupils at Strichen School helped raise funds for Sport Relief on Friday 21st March. We took part in a special 'Sport Relief Mile' by having the whole school walk to Strichen Community Park and then split into groups and go on a scavenger hunt round the park.
We left after break time and headed up the park. Once there we paired everyone up with a pupil from a different class, the Pr 7 pupils working with their Pr 1 buddies, and used old ties to join them by the wrist in their pairs. We then split all the pupils into five mixed groups and set off on our walk round the park and the lake. Miss Cruden and Miss Clark had made up a scavenger hunt and each pair had to look for a variety of objects on their way round the park.
We had a great time and made it back just in time for lunch at 12.15. We would like to thank the parents who came along to help us and also to thank the Co-op who donated carrier bags so that each pair had a bag to put all their collected items as they went.
In the afternoon we had our weekly assembly which was about Sport Relief. The children saw three videos - one about a boy named Daniel who lives in Ghana and spends every Saturday and Sunday working in a mine digging for gold to try and help his family be able to buy food and clothes. We also watched two videos about the challenge set to Alan Shearer and Robbie Savage to sit on EVERY seat in Wembley Stadium.....90000 of them!
Once again the pupils and families have worked hard to raise funds for a good cause. The children had a good day and hopefully their money will be put to good use helping people here at home and abroad. We will post the amount raised once it is all counted.
