Pupils in P7 from Strichen and Longside had a great morning today (Wednesday 28th March) when they all met together to meet eachother for the first time. They took part in some team building exercises - including tackling a thirty foot climbing wall! Here are some of their thoughts about the morning!
Today Pr 7s from Longside came to see us. We got put in 3 groups. One grope went rock climbing and one went skipping.
The last group stayed inside and played games. Then we would swap groups so we would get a turn at each thing. After we did one thing it was break time. I started with playing inside and finished with skipping. When I was rock climbing I got up two rows. My friend Heather went up all the rows. I was skipping with my friends. Every thing was fun but the best bit was rock climbing.
GLASGOW TRIP 2007
Primary 7 are going on a trip to Glasgow along with Longside pupils in May this year. As part of the preparations for the Glasgow trip Longside pupils were invited across to Strichen to meet our P7’s today.
First in the hall we played a couple of games together as one big group. Then Martyn Warren, the active schools co-ordinator from Canada, spilt us up into three groups. Two groups went outside and the other group stayed in the hall. One of the groups outside were on the large climbing wall. The other group outside were taking part in skipping. Inside the other group were playing tails and Fishes and Whales.
I didn’t really think that we would be talking to each other but it was a surprise that both schools were actually talking or at least smiling at each other. It was a really good get together. When everyone had gone I felt a bit sad because we didn’t have to do any work when they were here!

There were four men from the Active Schools Sports group to work with us. We were split in to groups. There was skipping, games in the hall and rock climbing. We think everyone enjoyed it - well we thought it was great fun. Strichen and Longside were mixed with each other. We know some new people and we hope we get to know the others when we go to Glasgow.

In the gym hall we played some games. One was called fishes and whales. There were people who made us skip while playing tag in the last group.

Today I met 2 pupils from Longside - they were David and Ruth. First we played a game called “tails”. Then we went rock climbing and I managed to reach more than halfway up the wall. After that we went skipping and I tried skipping with 2 ropes but I only managed 1. I felt nervous but excited.
